Former LCD Soundsystem leader James Murphy has broadly explored a number of different branches within the music spectrum, including working with Arcade Fire, Pulp, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Kathleen Hanna, to name only a few. He is no stranger to collaboration. Now, his sights are set on a new venture, one which many may find somewhat surprising: he plans to write original music for a Broadway production.
The show in question will be the stage adaption of Harold Pinter’s play, originally written and performed in 1978, entitled Betrayal. A lovelorn story of a marriage gone wrong, the play documents the events leading up to and in the aftermath of a wife’s affair. Reverse chronology keeps the story at an interesting pace.
The 2013 stage adaptation will star Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. The opening date is set for October 2.
This will be a unique venture for Murphy, who in 2012 helped create an LCD Soundsystem documentary called Shut Up and Play the Hits. A video from the documentary is featured below.
