In his time of need, former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap is very fortunate to have friends who take time apart from their personal lives to help him. Dunlap, still recovering from a stroke he experienced last year, receives support and positive energy from fans and fellow musicians.
Slim’s stroke affected more than just his family. In fact it was the primary reason for The Replacements reunion. After 22 long years The Replacements come together to show love and support to Dunlap and his family.
With that in mind, it is no surprise when musicians come together for a good cause. Gaining much success, Songs for Slim is back at it again! Songs for Slim is a non-profit fundraiser that originated with the purpose of helping former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap after he suffered from a stroke. Musicians cover Dunlap’s songs and auction them off to the public, giving the proceeds to Dunlap and his family.
Last month, musicians Jakob Dylan and Joe Henry both released singles, which profited about $5600, with 270 bidders participating in the auction. This time around, John Doe, Deer Tick, Vanessa Carlton, and Scott Lucas have come together to gain even more success.
The auction will run June 15-22, and to no surprise, the single will be featuring original album artwork by Chris Mars. With a limited amount of 100, each CD will be singed by John Doe and Deer Tick. In addition to these great features, LSTN will be rewarding the highest bidder with a pair of majestic wooden headphones.
It is said that a compilation CD of all the SFS singles will be released later this year. All Songs For Slim releases are available on iTunes and Amazon. Fans may also support Slim by visiting the Songs For Slim online store, where they can purchase t-shits, jewelry, and other items. All Songs For Slim proceeds are directly rewarded to Slim.
