Thrilwell is known mostly for his work in the 80’s as Foetus. More recently, he has been working under the name Manorexia composing symphonic arrangements which are featured on the series The Venture Bros.

With Thrilwell’s symphonic arrangements and big band orchestrations, he created the perfect partner for Zola Jesus to carry out her vision.

She explains her intent in creating this upcoming album:

“’Versions’ is about the bone of the music; taking approximations from past records and turning them inside out. With all framework exposed, the songs are given a new medium in which to evolve and bloom into their own tiny worlds.”

After their well-received performance at New York’s Guggenheim Museum, Zola Jesus and Thrilwell’s collaboration was such a hit it will be released in digital form on August 20th via Sacred Bones Records.

Following the digital release will be a string of live performances including a stop at Mountain Oasis Festival in Asheville.
