As of this Friday, against the grain metal band IWRESTLEDABEARONCE announced a third album, Late For Nothing, to be released this August 3rd with promise of an unfamiliar sound. It also bears to mention the striking presence of new vocalist Courtney LaPlante, whom replaced Krysta Cameron a day shy of last year’s Warped Tour.
It’s perhaps not so surprising that frontman Steven Bradley is making such a statement when the album appears to be his stylistic brainchild, working on all technical levels of its production from their LA based studio. The band’s guitarist and programmer prefaces its release saying,
The entire album came together as a result of us wanting to do something different…We didn’t want to make another weird IWABO album or whatever people were expecting. We set out to make something different and better than anything we’ve ever released. It’s a more evolved version of the band. We explored new styles and genres as well—especially in terms of the more spacey, epic, and beautiful parts. It’s got the most melodic moments of our career as well as the heaviest.
Late For Nothing is said to announce itself with a more experimental presence from varied influences, finding balance between the same frantic grindcore intensity with more empathic melodies, in part to Laplante’s newly charged ability to balance chilling shrieks with smooth choruses
The band will head for a summer jaunt to Europe before returning to the US for album publicity and to join Every Time I Die on the 2013 All Stars Tour.
