Elvis Costello & The Roots Announce Release of Collaborative Album Wise Up Ghost Set for September 2013 Release

The unlikely merger of British punk-rock idol Elvis Costello and hip-hop/neo soul group The Roots is sure to produce one of the most highly anticipated album releases of the year. Recently they have announced together that their forthcoming album Wise Up Ghost, will be released via Blue Note Records on Tuesday, September 17th. During a January interview with Billboard, Ahmir ?uestlove Thompson confirmed that he and The Roots were indeed working on collaboration with Elvis Costello. More recently ?uestlove spoke bit about the upcoming album. He also speaks about the thought process behind the release of his first memoir Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to ?uestlove, on June 18th, among some other interesting topics.

After Costello performed multiple times on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, he described The Roots musically as “love at first sight”, and legitimate studio session were scheduled soon after. There are rumored to be close to twenty individual tracks as a result.

Wise Up Ghost was released via a small number of test pressings on Record Store Day this April 20th, and the full release has been confirmed for this September.
