Random Access Memories is sitting high atop Billboard’s Top 200 at the No. 1 spot after selling 339,000 copies since its official drop last Tuesday. The French house superstars have been on a nonstop tear lately, having additionally broken Spotify’s record for the Most Streamed Song In Its First Week, with at least 8 Million individual listens of “Get Lucky.” And, they’ve even got their own racecar. Can Daft do no wrong?
The Robots have been on a roll recently thanks to their most anticipated album yet, Random Access Memories. The group’s fourth album has been a hit all over the world, having been downloaded in at least ninety-seven countries. Japanese fans discovered a bonus track released only to them, which has since been posted to Tumblr for the entire world to enjoy.
Spotify has also reported that the album broken the previous record for most streams in its first week, beating Mumford & Son’s Babel with at least 8 Million streams (although Spotify hasn’t released the exact numbers yet).
In America and the UK, Random Access Memories debuted at the top of Billboard’s Top 200, earning the duo’s first No. 1 spot, and second appearance on the Top 10 of the 200 Chart; their previous peaking spot was at No. 4 with the soundtrack to “TRON: Legacy” in January of 2011.
As of late, Daft Punk have been keeping busy, having their most successful record release to date, and also having collaborated with Kanye West on his upcoming album.
The group recently said that if they do perform, they never use actors, so you know you’re getting the real deal. Sadly however, they also said they aren’t planning to tour anytime soon.
We’ll just have to wait and see how long the robots will rock the top spot in the charts.
