Got A Girl, the musical project of Dan the Automator and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, has released a much anticipated new track. Titled “You and Me,” it is the first official release from the dreamy duo.
The actress, probably best known for her role as the neon-haired Ramona Flowers in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and the producer teamed up at some point within the last year, although not much is currently known about their project. Winstead joined Deltron 3030, Dan’s project with Del the Funky Homosapien and Kid Koala, for a song at last year’s Rock the Bells festival which may have been the catalyst.
If “You and Me” is anything to go by, the two are taking things in a trip-hop direction. Winstead’s breathy singing voice brings to mind Nancy Sinatra’s work with Lee Hazlewood in the 1960’s, and Dan’s beats are a modern, hip-hop take on French pop of the same era. Look to their Twitter page, which they launched only two days ago, for more info and listen below.
