Saturday Night Live’s season finale was highlighted by Kanye West’s first public performance for his upcoming album Yeezus. The SNL appearance follows a surprise New York City performance on Wednesday and the innovative release of “New Slaves” worldwide on Friday Night.
After teaming with sixty-six projections on Friday night for the worldwide release of “New Slaves,” Kanye West had his first public performance for his upcoming album Yeezus. West’s Saturday Night Live season finale performance caused quite a stir, opening with his new song “Black Skinhead.” The newest song features a sample of Marilyn Manson’s “Beautiful People.” The performance visuals of barking dogs, retro price tags, and flashes of the phrases “Not For Sale” and “New Slaves,” set the tone for a brutally raw and energetic performance.
With his final performance of the evening, “New Slaves” proved to be just as thought provoking and high-energy as his opening song. The brightly-lit stage and looped background visuals offered a complimentary effect to Kanye’s standing in place song delivery. The appearance on SNL allowed fans to see into the dark and intriguing new music off West’s sixth solo album. Yeezus is scheduled to release June 18th on Def Jam.
