If you live in Chicago, you’ve recently been treated to Doug McCombs’ return as Brokeback, John McEntire playing with the Sea and Cake and Jeff Parker’s semi-regular performances at jazz clubs around the city. What’s been missing is a full-fledged Tortoise show, something that hasn’t really happened since Thrill Jockey’s 20th anniversary party late last year. As luck would have it, the group recently announced a one-off gig at the Empty Bottle in July— until then, keep your fingers crossed for the debut of some new songs.
