TEEN’s new EP Carolina will be out in stores May 28th and again the group is releasing another track record, this one titled Circus, which is their third to debut off of the album.
The track comes in the form of a new video directed and edited by industry vet Elizabeth Skadeen. Elizabeth has worked with a number of bands in the past: the Flaming Lips, Chicks on Speed; and its hard to deny her nebulous, vapory ambience in this video as the girls perform live in front of a basement room full of people at the Union Pool in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The scene is reminiscent of Skadeen’s retro period as a female rocker in her own standard as she was also apart of a four member, all girl rock band called Finally Punk back in 2005.
TEEN’s North American tour with Eleanor Friedberger is still set to kick off this summer, June 4th, as well as being added to a list of other upcoming events, including the Downtown Music Festival in NYC, where they will put on performances to include their new tracks from Carolina. TEEN worked with producer Daniel Schlett, recently coming off of his latest project with DIIV’s Oshin, to record the five song album. Carolina gives fans a new sound as TEEN has improved their recording sessions for a more natural feel, giving listeners a stage front experience with every track.
Teeny Lieberson comments
It felt like the next step forward would be to take a more simplistic, live approach, play lines in unison and create a different kind of conversation between the instruments.
