Rolling Stones Live at the STAPLES Center (Live Blog)

Tonight, we have something special for you. We’re live at STAPLES Center for the kick-off of the Rolling Stone big tour. We’re going to liv blog the whole event so watch this space for updates. Right now, no bands are playing, the venue is half full.

8:49 – Still nothing happening. No sign of when the show might start. Good sweet potato fries though.

8:59 – Video package with famous fans talking about how they first heard the group.

9:03 – UCLA Marching band playing “I Can’t Get no (Satisfaction).” Band is here. “Get Off of My Cloud.”

9:09 – “The Last Time.” Crowd seems truly excited.

9:13 – “It’s Only Rock n Roll (But I Like It).”

9:17 – Mick “It was either us or the Lakers. Now, you got us. It doesn’t matter to Jack Nicholson since he was coming to both.” Now. “Paint it Black.”

9:23 – No delay, right into “Gimme Shelter.”

9:31 – “Wild Horses.” Gwen Stefani singing second verse.

9:36 – “Factory Girl.”

9:39 – Playing “Emotional Rescue.” Claim they’ve never played it before.

9:47 – Keith Urban is playing guitar and singing on “Respectable.” Mean solo from Urban.

9:41 – “Respectable.”

9:49 – “Doom and Gloom.”

9:56 – “One More Shot.” Obscurities playing better than the mega hits so far.

10:00 – “Honkey Tonk Women.” Girls in the crowd loving this one.

10:05 – Band introductions. Crowd roar for Keith Richards like you wouldn’t believe. Keith is singing “Before They make Me Run.”

10:14 – Keith singing “Happy.” Expectedly, not great.

10:17 – “Midnight Rambler.” Really long jam. Mick Taylor on guitar for this one.

10:27 – “Miss You.”

10:35 – “Start Me Up.”

10:43 – “Tumbling Dice.”

10:45 – “Brown Sugar.”

10:52 – “Sympathy for the Devil.” Mick rocking a fur coat.

10:59 – Encore break 1. Choir has taken stage right and left. Singing opening of “You Can’t Get Always What You Want.”

11:10 – “Jumping Jack Flash.”

11:17 – “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
