Stoner rock trio True Widow will be releasing their third album in July on Relapse Records, and will be touring in support with Baroness this May.
The upcoming album looks to minimize the band’s sounds into something that more compactly speaks to the fan’s needs .
Said singer/guitar player DH Phillips:
“I’ve always considered us a simple band but these songs seem even more boiled down. I’d say the pace is a little different as well. Things are a bit more upbeat. We also did not want to do a double LP. For me, as a listener of records, I get tired of getting up to change sides so many times. We wanted it to fit on a single record so the album clocks in at about 45 minutes as opposed to an hour like we have done in the past.
Phillips also talked of how the band had joined back up with producer Matt Pence (Yuck, Jay Farrar) for the new album.
We have done all of our recording with him. He is able to capture what we do in such a nice, lush way that I couldn’t imagine doing it with anybody else. He is a master at getting that thick sound.
