Ilan Rubin’s The New Regime Announces New Album Exhibit A Set for May 2013 Release

The New Regime, the one-man act featuring Ilan Rubin, will be releasing his third album Exhibit A on May 7, 2013. This will also be the first installment of his Exhibits series, where upcoming EPs as part of series will also be out in the near future. Preview the album below.

Aside from this, Rubin has rejoined Nine Inch Nails on drums for their upcoming world tour, including appearances at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL, and drumming on forthcoming Paramore’s Self-Titled album, out April 9, 2013.

Rubin began The New Regime in 2007, where he wrote, arranged and performed his own songs. Best known for his time drumming in Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves and Paramore, he sought out a way to create his own music, sound and vision.

He explains the Exhibits series:

“When it came time for a third release, I had enough material for almost two full-lengths. But, unlike my first two albums, these songs weren’t written with a definitive vision in mind. I realized that this broader spectrum of ideas was an exciting thing – I could release the music as a series of EPs. I call them ‘Exhibits’ – a collection that I can and will constantly be adding to.”

He explains what the concept behind Exhibit A:

“With Exhibit A, I wanted to continue to push my songwriting in multiple directions, while keeping songs direct and concise,” says Rubin, “I always like to keep music moving in various directions and have the listener guessing for what’s next. Sonically, the material on ‘Exhibit A‘ lent itself to both very organic sounds as well as quite a bit of electronics, which I’d say resulted in a pretty unique body of work.”
