If we were to go through all of the musical acts Walter Schreifels has been in, it would take up this entire article. On the other hand, the same could be done with The Khyber Pass and it’s history of providing Philadelphia with great concerts. Schreifels has played in influential hardcore bands including Youth of Today and Gorilla Biscuits, the alt-metal-ish Quicksand and the British influenced indie outfit Rival Schools. In between working reunions of his former bands and producing up-and-coming acts, Schreifels has worked on his own solo material. His debut album An Open Letter To The Scene was released back in 2010. For years the Khyber was one of Philadelphia’s top small venues. Several years ago it changed ownership and was turned into a restaurant (and a damn good one at that too) but the shows came to a halt. That is until now.
Walter Schreifels will be one of the first acts to play The Khyber in years. Along with performing his own solo work, Schreifels will also be playing songs from his previous bands as well. Teaming up with him will be two mainstays in Philadelphia’s local scene, Illinois and the Goodnight Lights. Everything goes down at 8PM sharp on Saturday April 6th.
