More new album news today! Josh Homme has certainly been busy lately and now , as reported by Pitchfork, Queens of the Stone Age have finally announced a new album for this June.
It’s been almost six years since the band has released any material. The album, titled …Like Clockwork, will feature several guest spots including Elton John, Trent Reznor, Jake Shears, and Dave Grohl.
The band recently had this to say about their upcoming album:
DEAR KERRANG, …SOME THINGS YOU CAN’T FIX SO… ON THIS RECORD WE CAME TO A REALIZATION: THE BEST TRICK OF ALL, IS NO TRICK AT ALL THE SONGS ARE A REAL TIME DOCUMENT OF THE MANIC UPS AND DOWNS OF THE LAST YEAR. IT CAN’T ALWAYS RUN LIKE CLOCKWORK. SO RATHER THAN CONTROL THE DIRECTION OF THE RECORDINGS, WE DECIDED TO RIDE SHOTGUN ON OUR EMOTIONAL BANDWAGON. WE EMBRACED OUR EVIL, HELD THE HORRIBLE, LICKED THE LUNACY AND BLEW THE BEAUTIFUL. AS A RESULT, WE’RE ON CLOUD 9. I CAN’T WRITE ANYMORE CAUSE MY PHONE’S DYING, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
As Consequence of Sound reports, if you go to the band’s website and click on the ‘Q’ you will hear what are thought to be snippets of the album. New snippets are played when you refresh the page.
The album will be released via Matador Records.
As AntiQuiet reports, Grohl captured the excitement regarding Queens of the Stone Age back in 2005,
I usually get nervous when I go on stage, but when I was in QOTSA I never got nervous, because I knew the people in the crowd were about to witness the best thing they had ever seen live. I felt like that every single night I played with them. It’s like the best lover you’ve ever had in your life – you don’t have to talk about it, you just do it.
Stay tuned for a more specific release date.
