Dog Blood New Project From Skrillex and Boys Noize To Play Coachella 2013

News on who was playing on the 2013 edition of Coachella was released last Thursday and aside from the Violent Femmes reunion being one of the highlighted acts to play, Dog Blood became one of the high profile side projects taking part of the lineup.

Dog Blood is the electro side project featuring US electro musician Sonny Moore (aka Skrillex) and German DJ/producer Alex Ridha (aka Boys Noize). They formed in early 2012 bring together two high profile DJ/producers to collaborate in Berlin, Germany.

Moore has released three EPs and has won awards for MTV’s Best Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year in 2011, as well as nominated for NME’s Sound of 2012 poll. Ridha has remixed Snoop Dogg, David Lynch, Peaches, Dépêche Mode, N.E.R.D.,the Chemical Brothers, and Mixhell (featuring Iggor Cavalera of Sepultura and Cavalera Conspiracy).

Despite their fundamental differences in their artistic differences, where Skrillex uses a laptop versus Ridha uses real gear, they both found a common point in creating music.

They released their debut single “Next Order/Middle Finger” on August 12 on Beatport and iTunes. “Next Order” reached the number one position on Beatport’s top 10 Techno song list.

Skrillex premiered the new track on December 21 on an exclusive OWLSA live stream to members of The Nest, consisting of The M Machine’s remix of “Middle Finger” and another remix due Spring 2013. Watch the video for ‘Next Order’ below.

They played their first live performance at the Palace in Detroit on New Years Eve, December 31 with Flosstradamus, Alvin Risk, D.I.M. and Destructo. Watch a clip below.

Dog Blood reportedly has three or four tracks currently recorded, but no word on how or when they will be released publicly.
