Guitarist, Wilko Johnson, has recently been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. However, this hasn’t stopped the rockstar. Instead, Johnson has big plans to tribute his fans and continue his musical career.
According to Rolling Stone, the rocker still plans on finishing a new CD when he gets back from a trip to Japan. Then, Johnson, who is well-known for his rowdy shows and choppy guitar playing, will embark on a quick tour throughout France. Finally, he will play a series of farewell shows in the UK and also put out a video of live footage from his last UK tour.
“Wilko wishes to offer his sincere thanks for all the support he has had over his long career, from those who have worked with him to, above all, those devoted fans and admirers who have attended his live gigs, bought his recordings and generally made his life such an extraordinarily full and eventful experience.”
Despite the horrible news, Wilko is dedicated to showing his fans his appreciation. Johnson has decided to forgo chemotherapy and let the disease progress without intense treatment. According to his manager, Robert Hoy, the artist isn’t in any pain yet and is in high spirits in the last few months of his life. The new album, tour, and film are all sure to be very touching and special for both Johnson and his fans.
