Adele’s Original Track “Skyfall” For Recent James Bond Film Nominated For Best Original Song At 2013 Academy Awards

While it’s probably not a surprise to anyone, Adele’s song “SkyFall” has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 2013 Academy Awards. The announcement was made yesterday morning in Los Angeles.

The other nominees to make the list are “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted, “Before My Time” from Chasing Ice, “Suddenly” from Les Miserables, and “Pi’s Lullaby” from Life of Pi.

Adele released the song in October as the theme song for the new Bond film, “Skyfall.”

As Consequence of Sound notes, other songs that were in the running but didn’t make the final nominations included Arcade Fire’s “Abraham’s Daughter” from The Hunter Games, The Black Keys’ “The Baddest Man Alive” from The Man With the Iron Fists; Karen O’s “Strange Love” from Frankenweenie; Mumford and Sons’ “Learn Me Right” from Brave, among several others.

The Academy Awards will be broadcasted February 24th on ABC at  4pm PT. Be sure to watch to see if Adele gets to add “Academy Award winner” to her resumé.
