Punk–pop New Zealand trio Popstrangers have just unveiled their video for “Heaven,” a track to appear on the band’s debut LP, Antipodes, which is scheduled to drop February 26, 2013. Following the quirky narrative of an asteroid-threatened Earth, the video was shot by director Luke McPake.
“The theme is basically a styrofoam asteroid coming towards Earth,” said Popstrangers of the video, which shows how various onlookers behave before a possibly devastating collision. “Some characters include a Ted Bundy-type character whose captive gets Stockholm syndrome,” the band went on to say. Also among the video’s colorful cast of stargazers, you’ll find an amorous tennis-playing couple, as well as a starry-eyed, Kool-Aid drinking cult.
