Over the weekend Heems said, “Alright, so I’m going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we’re not a band anymore.”

Over the weekend Das Racist was scheduled to perform at Munich’s On3 Festival but it turned out to be a Heems solo show. Pitchfork is reporting this is because Das Racist broke up. While on stage Heems said, “Alright, so I’m going to do some Das Racist songs, but Das Racist is breaking up and we’re not a band anymore,” indicating the hip-hop group is no longer working together.

This comes as a shock to many fans especially because last month an interview was published in Rolling Stone with Heems who talked about a Das Racist TV show and new album. Apparently, according to Kool A.D. the breakup happened two months ago. Kool A.D. tweeted:
“for the record i quit das racist 2 months ago and was asked by our manager not to announce it yet. apparently @himanshu wanted to do it tho.”
