PVT Reveal Cover Art For New Album Homosapien Set For February 2013 Release

PVT, the London and Sydney-based band formerly known as Pivot, announce that their new album, Homosapien, will be released on February 12th, 2013.

The album cover for Homosapien (shown above) was done by Winston Chmielinski of Brooklyn, a painter whose work often depicts the human body. According to PVT’s Lawrence Pike, Chmielinski’s work was just what they had been looking for after looking at”classical Greek sculpture, Brutalist architecture, Aztec burial masks.” After stumbling upon his artwork, Pike “was immediately drawn to the cover image. It seemed to encapsulate all of the things we were looking for to visually represent the music on this album; colour, primitivism, raw emotion, and the human form. It immediately seemed like we had our record cover.”

Whereas PVT’s last album, Church With No Magic (read mxdwn’s review here) pushed the limits of electronic rock, Homosapien is driven by Pike’s vocals, making him the music’s focal point rather than just part within a whole.  This new approach can be heard in their songs “Nightfall” and “Shiver.”
