Austin’s long-standing festival South by Southwest (SXSW) has confirmed Dave Grohl as their keynote speaker for 2013. The festival will take place March 8-17, 2013.
To younger fans, Grohl is probably best known for his front-man status in Foo Fighters. However, he was also the drummer for Nirvana and had a guest-drumming gig with Tom Petty. Grohl returned to the drums for Them Crooked Vultures, a supergroup with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age’s Joshua Homme. Grohl has collaborated with several artists as well, not limited to Paul McCartney, David Bowie, and Mick Jagger. He has ascended to legendary status as a musician and is one of the most beloved figures in the music scene.
The keynote will be open to Music and Platinum registrants and registered showcasing artists. SXSW is the world’s leading music industry event affording attendees the opportunity to learn about the future of the music industry with panels and conferences during the day. At night, a music festival, featuring over 2,000 artists, takes place. Attendees can watch the keynote at the Austin Convention Center on Thursday, March 14th.
