British electronic duo, Mount Kimbie will grace SF as one of their few stops on their 2012 tour. Minimalist and sometime ephemeral, Mount Kimbie experiment with embellishing tones from field recordings to make captivating rhythms. Sometimes labeled as post-dubstep or experimental, but more often described as completely unique. Mount Kimbie can be ambient, wobbling and wonky, or hip-hop. XXYYXX is someone to note as an up and coming 16-yr old beat producer from Florida. Also a genre bending pioneer, reviewers attempt descriptions with chill-wave futurist, psychedelic with a hip-hop back beat, galactic soundscape, etc. What apparently can be expected, however, is a gorgeously expressive dance beat constantly pushing the listener forward on an underwater freeway of time.
Note: Headlining set at this venue usually plays from 1-3am or 2-4am.
