Fiona Apple has been in the spotlight this past month after going through some complicated times. After the notorious arrest in Mesa, AZ last month for drug possession Apple is putting Epic Records under fire for black balling one of her songs in a soundtrack.
The roguish New York City singer, pianist and songwriter’s song “Dull Tool,” the song she composed for Apatow’s film This is 40, will not be commercially released when the film comes out in theaters Dec. 21, therefore taking away promotional support.
According to AZCentral, at her show in Mesa, AZ last month (just before her arrest) Apple, “Lashed out at her label, Epic Records, for pulling promotional support from her new album in response to her placing a song on a soundtrack.”
Pitchfork confirmed that the song will appear in the film but will not be released separately, but it was not specified why.
