Earlier today, Trent Reznor dropped the news of a forthcoming collaboration with Beats By Dre via Facebook. So far, it is not entirely clear what this collaboration with the Dr. Dre-backed headphones and tech company will consist of but is said to include “a number of very interesting projects”.
Already a busy year, Reznor has signed How to Destroy Angels with Columbia Records, announced an EP set to release in November and now apparently has yet another major happening in the works. First, Reznor took to Facebook with this quote:
Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up… I just can’t.
Not yet…
(I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!)
If that’s not enough to get you excited, later in the day Rob Sheridan, Reznor’s art director and How to Destroy Angels member took to Twitter, saying:
Something interesting/unexpected I’ve been involved in for the past year with @trent_reznor (can’t give any details…)
Just to tease a little further, Reznor also later got in on the Twitter action, tweeting:
David Byrne = hero of mine, but it’s not him. I doubt you’ll guess this one!
Tough to say what exactly Trent is up to here but he will certainly have our attention as more info becomes available.
