British Mercury Prize Nominees Announced

This week the British Mercury Prize nominees were announced and this year’s short list includes:

Richard Hawley: Standing at the Sky’s Edge
Field Music: Plumb
Michael Kiwanuka: Home Again
Ben Howard: Every Kingdom
Plan B: Ill Manners
Alt-J: An Awesome Wave
Lianne La Havas: Is Your Love Big Enough
Sam Lee: Ground of Its Own

The Barclay Mercury Prize celebrates the best British album of the past year and the panel of judges is composed of British music critics and distinguished industry people. This year’s will be announced on November 1.

2011’s winner was PJ Harvey.
