Wake, in case you haven’t heard, is Matthew Michael Ahern Hettich. Wake is crisp. Wake is hard. Wake is off-kilter yet coherent. Wake is, according to himself, “flamingos, pink and purple, Roland Tr-808 drum machines and late night handholding sessions at the beach.”
Wake is intriguing.
If you haven’t heard of this IDM brainchild or the small indie label he’s signed to named Proximal, you should venture over to the Satellite on Friday for the release party of his new EP The Fifth Finger. Made from samples of analog gear and sequenced in MOD trackers, this EP consists of purely electronic tunes – glitchy, dancey, punk-influenced electronic tunes.
Other acts include Co. fee, Juj, Sahy Uhns, Benedek, Dreams and NOTE. Haven’t heard of ’em? You should.
