Dark Dark Dark, the Midwestern American folk band, is releasing a new album on October on Supply and Demand Music. The album, Who Needs Who, will be the quintet’s third full-length LP. The track of the new album, “Tell Me,” was praised by Laura Snapes, of Pitchfork, as being “warm, worn, and seemingly sung from the wooden floorboards of a house, where all the other possessions have been sold off in the knowingly vain hope that pouring every emotion you’ve got into this instrument might fuel the domestic vessel’s take off to a better time.” Now Dark Dark Dark will take part in an extensive fall tour with the reputable multi-instrumentalist Emily Wells.
The band hails from Minnapolis, Minnesota is renowned for the group’s unique melding of New Orleans jazz, Eastern European folk and contemporary pop that is tinged with old country Americana. Dark Dark Dark’s 2008 debut album The Snow Magic was met with favorable reviews. PopMatters called it a “strong debut” and Paste Magazine found the band to be a “…noteworthy balance that’s struck between beauty, familiarity, and surrealistic imagery…”
