The Railroad Revival Tour just announced its 2012 lineup that includes Willy Nelson, Band of Horses, John C. Reilly and a host of other bands. Beginning October 20th, the unique eight-show tour will start in Duluth, Georgia and span to Oakland, California. The Railroad Revival Tour restores the romantic connection that lies between trains and music. The tour is wholly different from a generic music festival as it features antique 1940s railcars and ventures to cities all over the United States. Audience members can expect to see these bands perform in open-air, pop-up venues near train stops. Each event is located in a city with multiple vintage train stations so concertgoers can experience a part of American history melding with contemporary music.
Last year, the tour was kicked off with Mumford and Suns, Edwarde Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show. The Railroad Revival Tour has also garnered a rock documentary by filmmaker Emmett Malloy.
Band of Horses will also release their latest LP Mirage Rock on September 18th.
