Coheed and Cambria singer Claudio Sanchez and his company Evil Ink Comics announced at Comic-Con International in San Diego a partnership with Stephen Levinson’s Leverage Productions (Boardwalk Empire, Entourage, Contraband) and actor/producer Mark Wahlberg to develop The Amory Wars, their sci-fi graphic novel series into a live action feature film.

“The relationship with Leverage is one we’ve been searching for,” says Sanchez. “They do amazing, proactive work and are genuinely as passionate about this story as we are, which is essential for such a multi-dimensional title like The Amory Wars. We’re beyond excited.”
The Amory Wars is based on an epic fantasy set in an alternate universe in the future, and tells the story of the superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family who is able to free the world from his reign.
Published by Boom! Studios, The Amory Wars was created by Sanchez intended to create inspiration for Coheed and Cambria’s albums. His inspiration led his collaboration with writer Peter David (The Incredible Hulk, Aquaman) in 2010 to write the novel, Year of the Black Rainbow. This later was tied into the band’s album with the same name.
Coheed and Cambria will be taking part on a North American tour with Iron Maiden, beginning July 24 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada with stops at Reading and Leeds Festivals in England and the Riot Fest in Chicago.
