Writer Alan Moore and photographer-turned-director Mitch Jenkins are teaming up to release a series of short films.
The noir-inspired multi-part narrative, titled Show Pieces, are the first of Moore’s work written specifically for film; many of his previous works were already published novels before they became film adaptations. Moore is most famous for his graphic novels The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, V for Vendetta, and The Watchmen.
The films are produced by The Creators Project in association with Lex, a London-based production company and record label that has previously released projects by Danger Mouse and DOOM (formerly MF Doom). In 2010, Lex also released Alan Moore & Mitch Jenkins’ first collaborative project, titled Unearthing. The story was written and narrated by Moore, whilst set to Jenkins’ photography.
The project was originally intended as one ten-minute piece, but evolved into a multi-layered, multi-episode narrative. The first installment of Show Pieces, titled Act of Faith, stars U.K. actress Siobhan Hewlett (Sherlock, Torchwood). It will be premiered in New York in October, then released via TheCreatorsProject.com.
