The Locust will release a new album on July 31st titled Molecular Genetics from the Gold Standard Labs, referencing their ex-label with which they originally released these 44 hard-to-find tracks.
Since 1994, The Locust has been producing unique combinations of grindcore and new wave music, and Molecular Genetics collects all of their Gold Standard Labs work. MXDWN regularly covered acts from the Gold Standard Labs label such as Rhythm of Black Lines, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Free Moral Agents, until the label was shut down in 2007. GSL’s owner Sonny Kay went on to become an artist, producing The Glitch Mob’s album art for Drink The Sea.
