Steve Earle is hosting WoodyFest, a concert spectacle celebrating folk legend Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday. The complete lineup and more details are available after the jump.
Woody Guthrie may have passed away at age forty five but his legacy as a founding folk singer is still being felt today. On July 11-13th Woody Fest is being held at the City Winery in New York City. The festival is a celebration of Woody’s one hundredth birthday and a way to keep his voice alive. All of the musicians playing the festival will do covers of Guthrie’s famous songs. This will be an intimate concert experience with a crowd dedicated to Woody’s memory.
The host of Woody Fest is Steve Earle, an activist and folksinger who grew up as a prodigy of Towns Van Sandt. Earle, who released his 14th studio album last year, will be headlining all three days alongside Tim Robbins, Billy Bragg, Amy Helm and more.
