Alice In Chains guitarist has announced that the band is getting ready to go back into the studio for the follow up for their last album 2009’s Black Gives Way To Blue. The album was delayed after Cantrell had a shoulder injury but he is optimistic of their new material. “It‘s time to get to work and the material is really interesting, the body of work that we’ve done … It’ll be as different as any one of our records is to any other, and it’ll also be just as recognizable. It’s an Alice record, for sure.”

Seattle’s Alice In Chains is a band that survives. Black Gives Way To Blue was a goodbye to frontman Layne Staley who passed away from a drug overdose in 2002. The band also lost their former bassist Mike Starr who died of a prescription drug overdose in 2011. Still, the band triumphs on. Jerry Cantrell is receiving the Stevie Ray Vaughn award on May 31st and they’ll be playing Musicares event alongside Heart, Billy Idol and Moby.
