Earlier this year, Don Cornelius, the creator of the television show Soul Train, passed away after committing suicide. It was reported that he had died of a self inflicted gunshot wound, but new information has revealed that he might have had a history of depression that led to his ultimate suicide.
According to NewsOne, Cornelius’s autopsy has shown that illness may have caused him to fall to suicide. He had suffered an aneurism and multiple seizures, and the pain forced him into a deep depression.
The autopsy report also states that Cornelius had called his son at 3 a.m. the night of the suicide and told him, “I don’t know how long I can take this.” By the time his son arrived at his house, Cornelius was already dead.
Cornelius will always be remembered for his impact on the African American community and the entertainment and music industries.
