It has just been announced that Massive Attack’s longtime producer, Neil Davidge, is about to take his first foray into the video game world of music making. He’ll be doing the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Halo 4. More details after the jump.
Neil Davidge has his work cut out for him, since all of the Halo soundtracks have been well received thus far. This project should be right up Davidge’s ally, since the soundtracks are usually comprised of some sort of mix of tribal, spiritual, and sci-fi soundscapes. According to Spin, Davidge jumped at the opportunity when long-time Halo composer, Marty O’Donnell, stepped down from the task. This choice will likely give Halo 4 a new feel, but fear not, Davidge is a big-time fan of the game and will certainly do the soundtrack justice.
