Via Spin – Wilco is employing an interesting strategy in ticket sales for its upcoming benefit concert – half the tickets will go to random bidders, who will pay whatever they offered for the tickets. Check out the details on this strange (but cool) idea, after the jump.
The show will benefit Mass MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art), where Wilco has played several times before. Here’s how it works: out of 1,000 tickets, the band will give 500 to the highest bidders. Bids must be placed on Mass MoCA’s webpage between 10am on Friday, April 13 and ends at the same time on Monday, April 16. After the first 500 tickets are given out to the high bidders, 500 more bidders will be selected at random and offered the option to buy a ticket at whatever price they bid. So, if you’re lucky, this could become a pay-what-you-want concert.
Still, consider giving generously – Mass MoCA is one of the Northeast’s coolest museums. The show itself will happen on July 31st at Mass MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts.
