Jack White isn’t expecting The White Stripes to reunite anytime soon but he reveals it wasn’t up to him to end the band. For his thoughts on Meg White read more.
Jack White, one of the best guitarists of our time, became famous with his ex-wife Meg White in The White Stripes. Jack is constantly on the job, when he wasn’t with The White Stripes he would make music with The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather or other various projects. Now that The White Stripes have officially bit the dust Jack White is prepping his first official solo release but people keep asking his about The White Stripes. Recently White stated there is “absolutely no chance” there will be a White Stripes reunion and in an article with the New York Times he revealed why.
“Meg completely controlled the White Stripes. She’s the most stubborn person I’ve ever met, and you don’t even get to know the reasons.”
Meg was always the quiet one in the band, the one who played in the shadows and appears unappreciated. In 2007 The White Stripes tour prematurely ended due to Meg’s acute anxiety.
“I’m lucky that girl ever got onstage, so I’ll take what I can get.”
He expresses fond memories of the Stripes saying
“I’d make a White Stripes record right now. I’d be in the White Stripes for the rest of my life. That band is the most challenging, important, fulfilling thing ever to happen to me. I wish it was still here. It’s something I really, really miss.”
At least we have a Jack White solo album on the way.
