But weighed down too
Internationally renowned LA native Morgan Page is back with a new record. His fifth studio album, In the Air brings more feet pleasin’ jams to pack in a dance floor near you. Showing off much more than Page’s pure production proficiency, In the Air also showcases his symbiotic ability on collaborations with a number of powerfully talented producers and singers on practically every track.
The title track kicks things off; it is a dance song with a synth backbone, put together with the aid of BT and the sweet singing of Angela McCluskey. “Where Did You Go?” follows, beginning with a Swedish House Mafia synthline, as regrettably much of the album does, and is accompanied by Andy Caldwell and Jonathan Mendelsohn. “Body Work” brings the tempo down a tad, changing up the traditional kick/snare pattern, and is decorated with the lovely vocals of Tegan and Sara. “S.O.S. (Message in a Bottle)” drenches this Police classic in a danceable, trancable, deft veneer that is impossible for any dance music lover to not fall in love with. “Love Mistaken” shows us a bit more variety with downright dirty electro, 303 acid stabs, and adorable vocals sung by Shelley Harland.
The use of sine, progressive leads, and typical beep-boop trance-like synth almost makes In the Air stagnant. Technically speaking, there isn’t a ton of variety. The album is a very well put together collection of dance music songs by like-minded collaborations linked together by a similar style and passion, but nothing boundary breaking. This should be no deterrent, as even fair-weather fans will absolutely be able to appreciate In the Air.
