Soundgarden just posted a snippet of their brand new song, “Live to Rise,” that will appear on The Avengers soundtrack. If this brief 22 second sound clip is any indication of how the rest of the soundtrack will turn out, fans can expect a steamy and distorted score to accompany the anticipated film. More details after the jump.
The Avengers is looking like it’ll be one of the better big screen adaptations of a comic book. The cast is stacked, with Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson, and Gwyneth Paltrow all sharing the stage together and the soundtrack is looking to be pretty memorable.
The film marks Soundgarden’s reemergence to the music world, with “Live to Rise” as the first completely new song released by the band in 16 years. When the band announced their hiatus in ’97, fans doubted whether the grunge legends would ever regroup, but their involvement with the Avengers Assemble soundtrack has made this possible. As pointed out by Loudwire, we can expect an unrelated forthcoming album release from Soundgarden in the near future. The Avengers hits theaters May 4 and the Avengers Assemble soundtrack will become available May 1.
