Dana Buoy, who has operated as the percussionist for Akron/Family for almost the last decade, has just announced his debut solo album. This record, Summer Bodies, is set to be released via Lefse Records in May 2012. More details about the release after the jump.
Summer Bodies is a record that is a dedication to the feeling of summer love. The majority of the album was conceptualized in a bungalow near a jungle lagoon in Thailand and then later recorded almost solely by Buoy in a studio in Brooklyn. Buoy describes the genre of the album as “Tropicore”, with combined elements of dream pop and Afro beats. Take a listen to the first single off the record, “Call to Be,” at the Lefse Records website.
