A second generation rising star with a name that pays homage to the late great Townes Van Sandt, Justin Townes Earle played a stripped down set early in the afternoon at the convention center’s day stage. Amidst rows of chairs many viewers happily enjoyed full-size body pillows to sit on while enjoying the set and air conditioning. Earle played solo acoustic, delicately strumming and emoting with colorful folksy nuances. He quipped before his last song that if parents hadn’t already heard it (his dad is the brilliant Steve Earle) they would be calling and worried once they did.
