The Canadian band Our Lady Peace has announced that they will be releasing their eighth studio album on April 3. The album, Curve, is the band’s first one since the 2009 album Burn Burn. OLP will also be touring North America beginning March 29th.
Curve is the culmination of 10 years of work. It was OLP’s chance to record music that they truly love and would listen to themselves. The first single from the album, “Heavyweights,” is currently in the top ten at all Rock Radio formats.
Known for their alternative rock sound, OLP wanted to take risks in their newest album and to create a new sound. “While writing for Curve the focus was on being musically brave,” states bassist Duncan Coutts. Drummer Jeremy Taggart adds, “We just tried to let our ideas flow without worrying about radio or anything like that. It’s easier to be creative when you let something grow naturally as opposed to trying to fit in into something.”
