Saul is a creative powerhouse. Not only does he spin beautiful words into living poetry, but in his music, he puts some killer beats to them too. I first got a chance to see Saul live with Nine Inch Nails, and Bauhaus all the way back in 2006. I still remember it so clearly, being genuinely blown away by his words. He said we should thank Bauhaus for being the reason we were all a sea of black t-shirts, but what if we couldn’t take off our t-shirts at night? He then launched into “Black Stacy, ” and I knew I had to hear more of this man’s music. I promptly purchased the The Dead Emcee Scrolls, and truly vibed to his words. I was beyond estatic when he and Trent collaborated on his album Niggy Tardust, I know it’s my favorite because my favorite music hero of all time, Trent, is involved in, and all over it, but I genuinely feel it’s something special. “Banged and Blown Through” is still one of the coolest songs I’ve ever heard.
Mr. CX Kidtronik is a badass too. I most recently saw him live with Atari Teenage Riot, and he was the backing DJ when I saw Saul for the first time, as well as the following time. Don’t miss him!
