SXSW 2012 Wristbands Now On Sale For Austin Residents

The first batch of 2,000 Austin resident-reserved SXSW wristbands has already sold out, and second batch of 2,000 “locals-only” bands have just been made available. The second-round discounted price is $175, and are available for immediate purchase here.

Though the wristband does not guarantee access (badge holders enter first), wristband purchasers have indicated that typically only the large venues reach capacity before the wristbands are honored.

As previously reported, SXSW has made Austin-resident passes available at a discounted price previously. This year’s sold-out first round discount took a total of $76 off of the regular wristband price of $249, and the second round (going for $175) will shave $50 off.

The wristbands will be sold over the internet and require a credit card and an Austin billing address (click here to check out approved zip codes). Only two wristbands will be made available to all local purchasers, and bands are non-refundable and non-transferable.  Purchasers can pick up their tickets at the Austin Convention Center from March 13 through 17.

Check out the festival’s official website for a complete list of venues and shows for the 2012 celebrations.
