Jack White Announces Debut Solo Album Blunderbuss for April 2012 Release

We knew there was a reason Jack White has been so quiet recently.  After The White Stripes broke up, the prolific songwriter became deeply invested in Third Man Records, but avid fans had a hunch that there was something else in the works.  Today, this feeling was confirmed when Jack White released the first single, “Love Interruption”, that will appear on his debut solo album, Blunderbuss.

Blunderbuss is set to be released April 24 on Third Man Records / Columbia.  The record was written, recorded, and produced by White at the Third Man Studio in Nashville.  For those who simply can’t wait until April, White will be releasing a vinyl version of the “Love Interruption” single, coupled with a non-LP B-side “Machine Gun Silhouette” on February 7 via Third Man Records.

“Love Interuption” was made available exclusively to Third Man Records’ Vault Members originally, but has since been made available to the public via a free stream on Jack White’s website.  This has proven to be one of the many perks of being Vault Member to Third Man Records, so you might as well just sign up now.

Jack White describes Blunderbuss as “an album I couldn’t have released until now.  I’ve put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name.  These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colors on my own canvas.”

But enough talk, listen to “Love Interruption” for yourself.
