Japanese metal group Dir En Grey have announced that they will be touring North America on the upcoming Still Reckless Tour, alongside groups like Asking Alexandria and Trivium. The group has also planned a pair of solo appearances in March along with a reissue of their 2008 album, Uroboros, and a stop at this year’s SXSW festival in March.
The reissue will mark the U.S. release of Uroboros and will include several extended and previously-unreleased additions to their 2008 release. The reissue also features the return of sound engineer Tue Madsen, who contributed to the band’s latest critically acclaimed effort Dum Spiro Spero.
Dir En Grey made a splash on the western scene with the global release of Dum Spiro Spero, prompting critical attention to their live shows.
“It takes a special metal band to transcend a pretty dramatic language barrier and connect with a U.S. audience as easily as Dir En Grey did,” says Nathan Smith of HoustonPress.com.
MXDWN sat down down Dir En Grey for a chat in September of last year, and their affinity for connecting with live audiences was apparent then. The group’s commitment to putting on a good live show should bring many more international fans into the fold of their growing influence on the metal scene.
