Starting June 24th, KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl will begin its 14th season. The LA based radio station, KCRW, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association are collaborating to create a unique event that will display a broad variety of all musical genres. Showcasing artists from that broad spectrum, the season will stretch over twelve Sundays. On the classical side of the Bowl, the LA Philharmonic will partner with Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Yuja Wang. The famous Beethoven’s 9th will be performed along with Tchaikovsy and Schumann’s works. Switching genres, artists such as Norah Jones and Liza Minnelli will also join in the festival. Some of the Jazz events include a Miles Davis Celebration as well as performances by Carlos Santana and Anita Baker.
Invoking the music of Broadway, the Bowl will showcase a fully-staged performance of The Producers. Then, to celebrate July 4th, Barry Manilow will serenade the crowds. Topping off this talented selection, LA’s own Ben Harper, Reggae’s Ziggy Marley, London’s Hot Chip, and the quartet Animal Collective will feature some more contemporary music.
Subscriptions to the festival are on sale now, and single tickets will be available as of May 5th. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to see some of the world’s most talented performers perform in such an extensive festival.
