Just when the Alaskan rock outfit Portugal. The Man thought they were going to get a break from life on the road, they have been elected to headline the Jägermeister 2012 Tour. The tour kicks of April 3 and will hit 26 cities across the nation.
John Gourley and the boys are used to being busy. Since their debut 2006 release, Portugal. The Man has put out an album each year and toured relentlessly. It probably explains why their songs contain lyrics like “I just want to sleep forever”. Frontman Gourley had this to say of the tour, “We were planning on taking a short break from the road, but Jägermeister presented an opportunity for us to visit a handful of cities that we have not been to in ages, so we jumped at the chance to play these shows.”
P.TM is gaining a reputation for putting stellar live shows that include extended jams of their songs, art, film, psychedelic lights, and maybe even an Etta James cover if they have the time. Presale has already begun and you can buy tickets at P.TM’s website. Tickets go on sale to the public on January 27. This tour keeps up with the Jägermeister tradition of supporting rising musicians by giving them the opportunity to present their material to larger audiences. Indie rockers, The Lonely Forest, will serve as the support act of the tour.
