Musician and taxidermy enthusiast Jack White was spotted on an episode of the History Channel’s show American Pickers. The hosts visit White in Nashville to sell him no less than an elephant’s head.
The show’s hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz visit the singer at Third Man Records, the independent label founded and owned by Jack White. Though White created the label in Detroit, Michigan, the location visited on American Pickers was the organization’s first physical location, opened in Nashville in 2009.
The show is not without its charming moments of pseudo-reality television, complete with an “He even has an album called Elephant” comment, and a film crew dropping in on White’s photo shoot of “the oldest burlesque dancer in the world.”
The singer even jumps headlong into bargaining, and in an effort to lower the price on the pachyderm piece, White offers the hosts his jukebox and the black-and-white photo booth used in the Dead Weather’s “Hang You From the Heavens” video.
White eventually purchases the critter’s severed head saying “I’ve never hunted, I don’t think I ever could, but I really do love animals, and I love the majesty of taxidermy.”
Watch the segment with White at the 34:54 mark on the History Channel’s website.
